The Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of a diverse line or equipment and trucks (construction, mining, aggregates, etc.). This role plays a critical part in ensuring our equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
Essential Job Functions:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, cranes, skid steers, and other construction machinery.
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, braking systems, and powertrain components.
- Conduct equipment inspections to identify mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
- Utilize diagnostic software, tools, and manufacturer service manuals to accurately identify and resolve equipment failures.
- Occasionally perform field service repairs as needed to minimize project downtime.
- Complete detailed service reports and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and supplies. Order parts and supplies when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Stay current on evolving heavy equipment technology and repair practices.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment components.
- Completion of a Diesel Technology program preferred.
- CDL A preferred; minimum CDL B required.
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with changing priorities.
- You must provide your own basic tool.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
