Position Summary:
The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. This role is hands-on, helping with daily routines, classroom activities, and individualized care to meet each child’s needs.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing daily activities and lessons

• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom

• Support children with daily routines such as meals, rest time, and transitions

• Engage children in play, learning activities, and social-emotional development

• Build positive, professional relationships with children, families, and staff

• Follow all licensing, health, and safety guidelines

• Step into the Lead Teacher role when needed

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; CDA or early childhood coursework preferred

• Previous experience in child care or working with young children a plus

• Familiarity with the HighScope curriculum is a plus

• Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively

• Must meet state licensing requirements, including background checks
