Irrigation Specialist / Technician Assistant

Location: Oak Park, MI

About the Role

We’re an established complete grounds maintenance company located in Oak Park, MI serving all of Metro Detroit for the last 40+ years currently in need of another irrigation assistant.

You’ll be tasked with working behind the Irrigation Technicians on residential and commercial job sites, doing more of the unskilled labor while you learn the trade, freeing up the main technicians to work on more complicated issues.

Responsibilities

● Following instructions on how to do repairs

● Digging & Back-filling holes

● Picking up and Delivering Parts (with company vehicle)

● General unskilled labor

You’ll Be Learning How To:

● Perform spring turn-ons and winterizations

● Program irrigation controllers both in the field and remotely

● Inspect, audit, and adjust the systems to ensure they perform at maximum efficiency and conserve water while providing adequate coverage

● Renovate, troubleshoot and repair irrigation systems

Requirements

● Ability to perform physical work in various weather conditions

● Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds & walk long distances

● Ability to crouch/kneel and work at ground level for extended periods of time

● Valid driver's license preferred but not required

Experience and License Requirements

● No License Requirement

● Experience in diagnosing and repairing irrigation systems or plumbing preferred

● Previous experience in a customer service role a plus

Work Schedule

● You’ll work Monday to Friday, up to 10-hour shifts (with overtime in the peak season), starting between 6:00 and 7:00 am depending on the season. Your workday is finished when the route is complete, which is around 8-10 hours, but this can vary.

● We provide transportation from our site in Oak Park to job sites. You’ll drive or ride in a work van from the shop to the job sites.
