Job Title: Automatic Press Operator

Job Description

Join our dynamic team as an Automatic Press Operator with flexible shift options available. The role requires proficiency in running presses and setting them up according to instructions. Comprehensive training is provided during the first week on the first shift. Competitive pay is offered based on experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete training and independently operate presses.
• Prepare presses and work sites for setup following instructions.
• Set up presses, including preparing and adjusting straighteners and feeders, aligning stock, and assisting with transfer system setup.
• Prepare dies for installation and operate automatic presses, adhering to operator instructions and control plans.
• Monitor and maintain press fluid levels and verify proper raw material stock.
• Load, remove, start, end, and band steel coils.
• Utilize various systems like Intranet, Kanban, and EAM for job tasks and material orders.
• Operate hi-los, overhead cranes, and die carts safely.
• Troubleshoot presses using Smart Pac, CNC computers, and controls.
• Perform changeover tasks and all aspects of coil changing safely.
• Use torch and plasma cutter when needed.
• Learn to modify and adjust existing press control programs.
• Assist in the training of Automatic Press Operator trainees.

Essential Skills

• Experience in machine operation and production.
• Proficiency in using hand tools, assembly, and inspection.
• Experience with forklifts, tape measures, calipers, and overhead cranes.
• Mechanically inclined with experience in automotive repair and manufacturing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in plastic injection molding and automotive manufacturing.
• Mechanical skills related to cars and general manufacturing.

Work Environment

The work environment is typically automotive, with conditions that can be dark, hot, and dirtier. Employees are expected to adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00/hr.
