Incoming Inspection Technician | Otsego, MI

Salary Range: $48,000 - $72,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections of incoming raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies against engineering drawings, specifications, and purchase orders.
• Utilize various precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM) to ensure conformance to critical dimensions and tolerances.
• Document all inspection results accurately, including acceptance, rejection, and non-conformances, into the quality management system.
• Identify, isolate, and label non-conforming materials, initiating the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process and coordinating with relevant departments.
• Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment and tools, ensuring their accuracy and proper functioning.
• Collaborate with purchasing, engineering, and supplier quality teams to resolve material discrepancies and improve supplier quality.
• Adhere to all quality control procedures, work instructions, and company quality standards.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, optical comparators).
• Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Familiarity with quality control principles and relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document inspection results and identify non-conformances.
• Basic computer proficiency for data entry, record keeping, and report generation.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, vision systems, optical comparators).
• ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or similar quality certification.
• Familiarity with basic statistical process control (SPC) concepts.
• Understanding of various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, casting).
