Systems Engineer I

The Systems Engineer I will apply systems engineering based principles in developing requirements, designs, and validation of customer projects covering multiple disciplines. The role will work with a multi-faceted team developing systems to integrate mechanical, electrical and/or controls designs for automotive, mobility and aerospace projects. The Systems Engineer I will work across multiple internal departments as well as external suppliers providing technical leadership towards project objectives. The Systems Engineer I will be mentored and supported by senior team members on project work and customer interactions.

As a Systems Engineer, you will:
- Contribute to system design and analysis, preparation and presentation in design reviews and support stakeholder management (customer, supplier, other departments)
- Develop, prepare and execute hardware and systems validation test plans including experimental design and data acquisition needs
- Develop and track requirements, validation plans, and test data to ensure the design meets customer objectives
- Utilize simulation tools to model complex systems to guide the requirements definition and design activities
- Coordinate design input from multiple engineering disciplines from within the company and from external suppliers & customers
- Design and develop hardware, systems, and validation testing setups
- Develop qualitative and quantitative analysis, using methods such as Failure Mode &
- Effects Analysis (FMEA), to ensure a design meets or exceeds customer requirements
- Document and report project status and results both internally and externally
- Provide design, development, integration, and test support at customer and supplier sites
To be considered as a Systems Engineer, you will need:
- Bachelor of Science in aerospace, automotive, mechanical engineering, or related
- Minimum of six (6) months of hands-on experience in systems engineering or a related technical field
- Knowledge in application of systems engineering and processes, including requirements elicitation, development, and management
- Knowledge of product development including definition of test cases and design validation practices
- Familiarity with simulation and analysis software tool such as MATLAB, Simulink or similar
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative team environment
- Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
- 1 year of engineering experience in mechanical, aerospace, automotive, or related engineering field
- Experience in systems engineering and development
- Experience in documenting and reporting data-intensive testing results and project summaries
- Practical knowledge of Internal Organization for Standardization (ISO) 26262, International
- Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61508, or other relevant safety standards
