Controller || Metals Recycling Industry

A trusted name in the metal recycling industry seeks a detail-oriented, experienced Controller to manage the day-to-day accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle accounting including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Bank Reconciliations
- Prepare and post journal entries, monthly closings, and internal financial reports
- Maintain accuracy of financial records and ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations
- Oversee payroll processing and related tax filings
- Monitor cash flow, prepare reports, and assist with budget forecasting
- Coordinate with external CPA during year-end review and tax filings
- Support inventory tracking and costing in alignment with purchasing and operations teams
- Reconcile scrap sales, metal purchases, and related vendor/customer accounts utilizing POS system (ScrapDragon)
- Maintain vendor and customer records in accounting software (e.g., Excel, QuickBooks, Sage, etc.)
- Handle sales tax filings and compliance across applicable jurisdictions
- Provide administrative support related to accounting or HR as needed in a small-office environment

Qualifications:
- 5+ years of full-charge bookkeeping experience, ideally in manufacturing, distribution, or recycling sectors
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or equivalent
- Solid understanding of accrual accounting, internal controls, and GAAP
- Experience reconciling complex accounts and managing multiple cost centers or divisions
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Familiarity with scrap metal pricing, inventory, or logistics is a plus
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
