Medical Director - Psychiatry | Outpatient Behavioral Health | Michigan (1099)
Our client is seeking a Medical Director to provide psychiatric care and medical leadership within an outpatient behavioral health setting. This role includes psychiatric evaluations, medication management, clinical oversight, and participation in quality and compliance initiatives. The Medical Director works with multidisciplinary teams to support trauma‑informed, culturally responsive care for children, adolescents, and adults with behavioral health and substance use needs.

Requirements:
- Provide in‑service training on psychiatric and clinical topics.
- Coordinate psychiatric service delivery across the organization.
- Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of psychiatric and medical services.
- Support regulatory compliance and continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, medication reviews, and required clinical documentation.
- Offer clinical consultation and oversight to clinicians and interdisciplinary teams.
- Participate in behavior treatment committee meetings and approve behavior plans.
- Assist in developing and refining clinical procedures, protocols, and service standards.
- Participate in clinical meetings, compliance reviews, root cause analyses, and quality initiatives.
- Participate in recruitment, supervision, and peer review of psychiatric staff, including nurse practitioners and residents.
- Prescribe and monitor medications; order and interpret laboratory tests as needed.
- Provide onsite and telehealth psychiatric services based on client and program needs.
Qualifications/Must-Haves:
- Valid driver's license and/or reliable transportation.
- Trauma‑informed leadership and clinical practice.
- Strong clinical judgment within complex psychiatric service systems.
- Cultural competence and ability to work with diverse populations.
- Ability to treat mild, moderate, and severe behavioral health needs.
- Proficiency with telehealth platforms and electronic medical records.
- Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Minimum 5 years of experience treating both child and adult populations.
- Experience working with substance use disorders and dual‑diagnosis clients.
- Familiarity with community mental health systems, preferably within Wayne County.
- Ability to work onsite daily and provide telehealth services as needed.
- Experienced using behavioral health EMRs and common telehealth platforms (e.g., Doxy‑style systems, Zoom, Teams)
- Must be comfortable working with children, adults, and individuals with substance use disorders.
- M.D. or D.O. with an active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in Michigan.
- Board Certification in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (or equivalent fellowship training)
Preferred Skills:
- Substance Abuse Certification.
- Experience in nonprofit or community mental health settings.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience within psychiatric services.
