Overview

The Client Benefits Financial Analyst plays a pivotal role in evaluating and managing employer-sponsored health plans through claims analysis, financial modeling, and market strategy, while also ensuring the accuracy, continuity, and reliability of financial deliverables. This position combines analytical expertise with client-facing responsibilities to support plan design decisions, risk management discussions, and financial performance reporting. The role is critical to maintaining operational stability, fostering client trust, and driving overall satisfaction. This position is ideal for someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple projects in a dynamic environment, while also excelling in client communication and relationship management.

How you'll make an impact

Key Responsibilities:

Claims & Experience Analysis

  • Pull and review monthly medical, dental, vision, and ancillary claims reports.
  • Track plan performance, utilization trends, and cost drivers.
  • Maintain renewal and experience reporting for assigned groups.
  • Identify patterns and summarize findings for internal and client discussions.

Financial Modeling & Forecasting

  • Develop renewal projections and contribution models.
  • Create financial comparisons to support budgeting and funding decisions.
  • Assist in evaluating plan performance year-over-year.
  • Support funding analyses (fully insured, level-funded, self-funded).
  • Prepare and deliver client-facing financial reports and insights.

Plan Strategy & Risk Review

  • Participate in internal strategy meetings to review employer plan performance.
  • Provide data-driven input on plan design considerations.
  • Support long-term cost management discussions.
  • Serve as the primary financial point of contact for assigned client accounts.

Market Analysis & Carrier Quoting

  • Prepare underwriting submissions and market groups to carrier partners.
  • Review carrier proposals for competitiveness and alignment.
  • Develop clear side-by-side comparisons.
  • Assist with negotiations and final recommendations.

Client Relationship Management

  • Act as the financial liaison for assigned client accounts, ensuring timely insights and performance reporting.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to support trust, contract renewals, and satisfaction.
  • Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and quality of client deliverables.
About You

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in employee benefits, underwriting, or health insurance analytics preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables and financial modeling required; advanced skills a plus).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfort working with data and financial models.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, with a client-focused mindset.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn.
  • Understanding of employer-sponsored health plans preferred.
Compensation and benefits

We offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation package. The base salary range represents the anticipated low end and high end of the range for this position. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
