Social Worker (LMSW) - Outpatient / Pediatrics (Days)
**Position Overview: Child and Family Therapist**
The Child and Family Therapist plays a pivotal role in delivering mental health treatment and case management services tailored to the specific needs and preferences of families.
Services may be provided in the home or community setting and demand flexibility in work hours to accommodate the families being served. A critical component of this role is the capability to implement the Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO) clinical model while maintaining fidelity to its intervention strategies. The therapist will provide targeted behavioral therapy addressing both school and family dynamics.
Beyond individual treatment, the Family Therapist is tasked with fostering collaborative relationships with various human service organizations and community entities to establish and sustain a robust support network for families post-intervention. This includes coordinating and integrating services across multiple providers, as well as identifying and mitigating barriers to effective service delivery.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Deliver weekly family therapy sessions utilizing the TFCO model, introducing behavioral coping strategies and parenting skills through evidence-based practices, positive reinforcement, and coaching techniques.
- Actively engage primary caregivers and key stakeholders in the therapeutic process, addressing barriers to treatment engagement.
- Establish therapeutic alliances with families, ensuring a supportive and effective treatment environment.
- Provide direct clinical interventions aligned with the TFCO model, including family therapy and crisis management. - Collaborate with mental health and medical professionals, coordinating care with psychiatrists, physicians, and nursing staff.
- Facilitate connections with academic institutions and community organizations to advocate for the needs of children and families.
- Assist families in accessing psychiatric evaluations and medication management upon the child’s return home.
- Proactively identify and address service barriers, enhancing community resources based on family needs. - Maintain and build collaborative relationships with community organizations and stakeholders.
- Refer cases to Child Protective Services and Adult Protective Services as warranted.
- Participate in clinical supervision, team meetings, consultations, and ongoing training.
- Deliver individual, family, and group therapy, along with case management services as required.
**Qualifications:**
- A Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field (Psychology, Counseling, Social Work), along with licensure as a Psychologist (TLLP, LLP, or LP), Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC or LPC), or Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW or LLMSW) in the State of Michigan is required.
Additionally, candidates must meet the Michigan Department of Community Health criteria to qualify as a Child Mental Health Professional within 120 days of hire.
- A minimum of one year of experience in the evaluation and treatment of children and families is required.
- Candidates should exhibit a nonjudgmental, culturally competent approach, effectively engage families in therapy, and develop collaborative relationships with other service providers. Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to navigate complex family and community systems are essential. Flexibility, patience, and creativity in problem-solving are also critical.
- A valid driving record is necessary, with the ability to obtain a chauffeur’s license within 30 days of hire.
- Preferred qualifications include experience in family therapy, teamwork within a multidisciplinary setting, administering social skills assessments, and familiarity with cognitive behavioral therapies, particularly with children and adults. Experience in Wayne County CMH services and proficiency in electronic medical records is advantageous.
**Additional License Requirements:** - Eligible licensure includes LLMSW, LLPC, TLLP, LMSW, LPC, or LLP.
