Mechanical Technician III

Job Title: Mechanical Technician III Compensation & Schedule: + Pay rate: $23-$30/hour, based on experience. + Location: Bloomfield CT 06002 Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. + Assignment: 6-month contract with potential for extension. Job Summary: The Mechanical Technician III will be responsible for conducting performance and reliability testing on engines, components, and installations in test cells. This role requires strong technical expertise in gasoline and/or diesel engines, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to diagnose and resolve issues effectively. Key Responsibilities: + Conduct performance and reliability testing on multi- and single-cylinder engines, components, systems, and controls. + Diagnose and resolve issues with engines, systems, controls, and test cell equipment. + Operate data acquisition systems, review data for accuracy, and maintain electronic documentation. + Perform rig, engine, and component builds, tear downs, and inspections. + Inspect and measure engine components. + Fabricate piping, tubing, and brackets from prints and drawings; drill and tap material as required. + Install engines and instrumentation into test cells and test rigs. + Execute test plans as directed by Engineering and Lab staff. + Utilize mechanic tools and measuring instruments (dial indicators, torque wrenches, feeler gauges, etc.). + Document time spent on projects and submit weekly spreadsheets. Qualifications & Competencies: + High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. + Experience: + 5+ years working with gasoline or diesel engines, OR + Graduate from an automotive or diesel trade school, OR + Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field. + Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. + Mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand tools. + Ability to perform light fabrication work (drilling, tapping, welding). + Effective written and verbal communication skills.
