Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Detroit, MI 48236 (Michigan respiratory therapy jobs)
• Facility: Hospital – Respiratory Therapy Unit
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel contract
• Shift: 6:45pm – 7:15am, 12-hour shifts, every other weekend required
• Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
• Start Date: August 25, 2025
• Hourly Pay Rate: $29–$38/hr
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680–$1730

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Associate of Science Degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Active Respiratory Therapist license in the State of Michigan
• BLS certification (Basic Life Support)
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent experience in an ICU or hospital floor setting (2 years preferred)
• Experience with ABG, Puritan 980, Hamilton Transport, and Servo U ventilators preferred
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), Pediatric ICU, and Neonatal experience a plus
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR preferred

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Deliver life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and medical gas therapy to patients in a hospital environment
• Perform invasive and non-invasive diagnostic respiratory procedures for ICU and general care patients
• Maintain clinical expertise and flexibility for assignments across multiple hospital units
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Accurately document all aspects of patient care and respiratory therapy interventions
• Supervise, direct, and delegate tasks to respiratory therapists, orientees, externs, and students as needed
• Complete accurate patient billing and documentation requirements
