Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan 49048
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (August 18, 2025 – November 17, 2025)
• Healthcare Setting: Stepdown Intermediate Care Unit (22 beds)
• Shift: 4x12-hour night shifts (19:00 – 07:30); every other weekend and holiday required
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1890 - $1940
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Charting System: Cerner Powerchart
• Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Stepdown RN or ICU Registered Nurse
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; Michigan RN license or willingness to obtain
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (CPI preferred)
• Proficiency with Cerner charting system
• Must reside at least 50 miles from facility (no local candidates)
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Ability to float to similar units or affiliate hospitals as needed
• Completion of up to 8 hours of pre-start modules required

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to adult and geriatric populations in a cardiac stepdown setting
• Monitor and manage patients with cardiac, neurological, and post-surgical conditions (including pneumonia, sepsis, CHF, DKA, stroke, and more)
• Administer medications, manage cardiac drips (no titration), and perform advanced nursing procedures (central line care, chest tubes, telemetry monitoring)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Float to similar stepdown units or affiliate hospitals as census requires
• Participate in weekend, holiday, and on-call rotations as scheduled
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Cerner Powerchart
