Senior Accountant

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Accountant in Garden City, NY. Duties:

• Senior Accountant will prepare routine and recurring journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Perform monthly reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts and recommend adjustments as needed
• Provide backup support for senior accounting functions such as bank reconciliations and other financial processes
• Create, input, and maintain spreadsheets related to billing and financial data
• Assist in monitoring fund balances, restricted accounts, and project-related transactions
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes
• Assist with annual audit preparation, including responding to auditor requests and gathering required documentation
• Participate in reviewing and improving accounting procedures, processes, and internal controls
• As a Senior Accountant, you will perform other related duties and ad hoc projects as assigned
• Research accounting issues and document conclusions in accordance with established policies
• Collaborate with financial operations on rate-setting and reporting activities
• Update financial tables and systems with current rates and fees as needed
• Assist in preparing and reconciling financial reports to the general ledger
• Work with external partners to process reconciliations and payments according to agreements
• Represent the finance team on committees and task forces as needed
• Analyze reserves for doubtful accounts and recommend adjustments
• Support the budgeting process as required
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
