Job Summary Carabell Leslie & Company LLC, a full-service public accounting firm with over 60 years of trusted service in the Detroit Metro area, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing team. This role offers hands-on exposure to tax, financial reporting, and client advisory services in a collaborative, growth-focused environment. The ideal candidate is technically strong, client-oriented, and eager to develop professionally within a firm that values modernization, efficiency, and long-term relationships. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements, tax returns (individual and business), and supporting workpapers
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Perform general ledger, bank, and account reconciliations
- Support compilation and review engagements by preparing required documentation
- Assist with tax planning and compliance activities
- Work directly with clients to maintain accurate financial records and provide advisory support
- Maintain and update accounting systems, including QuickBooks Online and Desktop
- Utilize UltraTax and Accounting CS for tax preparation and reporting
- Stay current with GAAP, tax law changes, and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to firm process improvements, workflow efficiencies, and modernization initiatives
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 13 years of accounting experience (public accounting experience preferred)
- Proficiency in UltraTax, Accounting CS, QuickBooks (Online and Desktop), and Microsoft Excel
- Working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Experience with tax preparation strongly preferred
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
