Med/Surg RN Job Details – Marquette, MI

• Location: Marquette, Michigan 49855 (Upper Peninsula)
• Position: Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN), Locum Tenens
• Facility: 225-bed specialty care hospital, Level II Trauma Center
• Unit: Acute Medical/Surgical Unit (6th Floor)
• Assignment Type: 13-week contract, night shift
• Start Date: October 13, 2025
• End Date: January 12, 2026
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), rotating weekends
• Hours per Week: 36 (guaranteed)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,910–$1,960 per week
• Patient Ratio: 5:1 to 6:1
• Electronic Health Record: Cerner
• Orientation: Bi-weekly sessions
• Dress Code: Galaxy Blue or Navy scrubs

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license (Michigan or compact state)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience
• Current ACLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and independent decision-making
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-acuity healthcare environment
• Willingness to float to similar units as needed
• Compliance with hospital dress code and infection control policies

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients (ages 18–125) on the Med/Surg unit
• Monitor patient conditions, administer medications, and manage IVs using Baxter IV pumps and Kangaroo pumps
• Operate telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, and other clinical equipment
• Accurately document all care and interventions in Cerner EHR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient outcomes
• Respond effectively to emergencies and high-stress situations
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment for patients and staff
• Participate in bi-weekly orientation and ongoing professional development
