Physician - Pediatric Epilepsy, Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, Grand Rapids, MI

The Division of Pediatric Neurosciences seeks a full-time BC/BE Child Neurologist with Fellowship training in Epilepsy . Currently the division includes 11 child neurologists, 4 pediatric neurosurgeons, 6 pediatric neuropsychologists, 9 Advanced Practice Providers, social work, dietician, and other support staff including Child Life and genetics counselors.

This position will join and help oversee 5 board certified epileptologists within the very busy department.

Key roles for this position include:

• Assess and monitors the medical needs of patients

• Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensures coverage of case load at all times.

• Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.

• Provides oversight of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners and others providing delegated services to patients.

• Evaluates patients'/significant others'/staff educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or delegates to appropriate resources.

• Documents in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.

• Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Acts as a patient / family advocate.

• Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the development / application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.

• Actively works with Spectrum Health to meet financial and patient satisfaction goals.

• Participation witihn the 8 bed, wireless EMU, PET, MRI areas

• Ongoing participation within a very actice research program with an opportunity to teach child neurology residents and epilepsy fellows.

Qualifications

• License - MD/DO in the State of Michigan upon hire

• CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan upon hire

• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association
