Job Summary: The Production Value Stream Manager (VSM) is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations across assigned production value streams while ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient execution of production objectives. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role provides leadership to Production Supervisors and frontline teams while driving operational excellence through Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, labor optimization, quality performance, and productivity enhancements. The Manager, Production Value Stream partners closely with Quality, Compliance, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Packaging, and Warehouse teams to ensure production schedules are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of safety, product quality, and regulatory compliance. Duties/Responsibilities: Manufacturing Operations Leadership Oversee production operations across assigned value streams and multiple shifts, ensuring alignment with production schedules, operational objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Directly supervise Production Supervisors and frontline leadership teams while maintaining accountability for safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance. Manage operational risks, resolve production issues, and coordinate resources to ensure efficient workflow execution and uninterrupted production activities. Foster a culture of accountability, employee engagement, operational excellence, and continuous improvement throughout the value stream. Ensure all production activities comply with company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), regulatory requirements, and workplace safety standards. Operational Performance & KPI Management Monitor and analyze value stream performance metrics, including throughput, labor productivity, schedule attainment, yield, waste reduction, quality performance, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Identify operational opportunities and implement corrective actions to improve process efficiency, product quality, and overall value stream performance. Develop and maintain operational reporting, performance dashboards, and management reviews to communicate production results and drive data-based decision making. Implement workflow improvements and operational standards that increase efficiency while maintaining product quality, compliance, and employee safety. Continuous Improvement Lead Lean Manufacturing, value stream mapping, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives across assigned production areas. Identify opportunities to eliminate waste, improve process flow, reduce costs, and increase manufacturing capacity. Drive standardization of processes, best practices, and performance expectations throughout the value stream. Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, and Automation teams to improve equipment reliability, process performance, and operational effectiveness. Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate closely with Quality, Compliance, Supply Chain, Packaging, Warehouse, and Distribution teams to achieve production objectives and customer requirements. Support production planning activities by ensuring labor, equipment, materials, and operational resources are aligned with business demands. Partner with Quality and Compliance teams to address findings, corrective actions, and continuous improvement opportunities. Communicate operational priorities, risks, performance results, and resource needs to plant leadership and key stakeholders. Workplace Safety & Compliance Maintain a safe work environment through active leadership, coaching, auditing, and enforcement of safety policies and procedures. Ensure adherence to GMP, sanitation, PPE, security, and cannabis regulatory requirements. Review incident trends and implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce safety risks and strengthen operational compliance. Required Skills/Abilities: Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, production planning, and workforce management within high-volume production environments. Demonstrated expertise in Lean Manufacturing, value stream mapping, continuous improvement, and operational excellence methodologies. Strong understanding of key manufacturing KPIs, including labor productivity, throughput, OEE, yield, quality performance, and schedule attainment. Experience leading large production teams across multiple shifts in fast-paced manufacturing environments. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and root-cause analysis capabilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams. Experience utilizing ERP systems, manufacturing reporting tools, Microsoft Office, and production management software. Knowledge of GMP standards, OSHA requirements, and regulated manufacturing environments. Ability to analyze operational data and drive improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance. Ability to coach, develop, and hold supervisors accountable for operational results. Education & Experience: Required Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Required Experience 5 years of progressive manufacturing, production, or operations leadership experience. Experience leading production teams within high-volume manufacturing environments. 3 years of direct supervisory experience managing large teams across multiple shifts. Demonstrated success improving productivity, safety, quality, and operational efficiency. Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives. Experience operating within regulated manufacturing environments. Must be at least 21 years of age. Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Education Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred. Preferred Industry Experience Cannabis Manufacturing Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Food & Beverage Manufacturing Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Consumer Products Manufacturing Other regulated manufacturing environments Preferred Certifications Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Lean Six Sigma Black Belt OSHA 30 Certification APICS Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) Additional Preferred Qualifications Experience utilizing METRC software. Experience with value stream management in highly automated production environments. Experience supporting facility growth and production scaling initiatives. Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a manufacturing, warehouse, and production environment for extended periods. Ability to walk the production floor regularly and perform frequent site inspections. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and climb stairs throughout the workday. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all safety standards. Ability to work in varying manufacturing conditions, including exposure to noise, machinery, temperature fluctuations, and production-related environments. Ability to operate standard office equipment and utilize computer systems for reporting, analysis, and communication. Ability to respond to operational issues outside of standard business hours when necessary. Travel Requirements: Travel up to 10% as business needs require. Travel may include training, leadership meetings, audits, operational support activities, and visits to other company facilities. Work Schedule (Exempt): This is a full-time, exempt position. This role requires flexibility to work the hours necessary to meet business needs, which may include extended hours, weekends, and holidays. Work schedules and expectations may be adjusted based on operational priorities and organizational demands.
