Salary Range: $82,000 - $122,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and document laser welding processes for new and existing products.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for laser weld defects.
• Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot laser welding equipment and associated tooling.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams on weld joint design and fixturing.
• Establish and monitor key process parameters to ensure consistent weld quality and yield.
• Provide technical training and support to production operators and technicians.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laser welding efficiency and quality.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3-5+ years of experience in laser welding process development, optimization, and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in weld metallurgy, material science, and characterization techniques for various materials (e.g., steels, aluminum, dissimilar metals).
• Demonstrated expertise with different laser types (e.g., fiber, Nd:YAG, CO2) and their integration into automated production systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose root causes of weld defects and implement robust corrective actions.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with robotic programming (FANUC, ABB, KUKA) for automated laser welding cells.
• Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE) for process optimization.
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) for thermal stress, distortion, or weld pool modeling.
• Knowledge of advanced materials (e.g., superalloys, titanium, dissimilar metals) and their laser weldability.
