Azure Engineer

TEKsystems has been through a series of reorganizations throughout the last year + and have been trying to identify their next step within their IT environment and organization. Currently, they have folks who lean towards being more accustomed to their previous 'on prem' setup or they are all cloud based in their experiences, so they are looking to bring in an outside Azure Engineer who knows the core products – app gateways, firewalls, allocation services, etc. (they are not using anything off the wall or customized) and can help 'illustrate the unknown' environment for the team. Their environment has already been stood up for the most part, but they are in need of some 'outside eyes' in order to make sure they are using their Azure capabilities to the fullest. Some technologies/tasks that he/she may be assisting with:

o Azure networking components – network security groups

o VPN tunnels

o Manage SQL servers

o Microsoft Azure Service Fabric

o Application – WAF – firewall

o Azure for backups, for disaster recovery

o Entra ID

o 365 for mail/apps

o Synching

o Hybrid setup – some on prem

o Someone that understands the concept of it and how we can compartmentalize Teams and rollout

o Access Control – IP groups

o Automation opportunities around access control

o Firewalls/database service/service Fabric – runs on virtual machines

o Want to get it illustrated what we have and then feel out the person, if they have a lot of architectural insight, if you guys can redesign in but can diagram it

Ideally, they are looking for someone who can come into the unknown, and provide a rough outline. Someone who could assist with insight and visibility of analytics into the environment – would come second, but would be helpful as well.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and execute Azure cloud strategy, architecture, and implementation plans

• Build, optimize, and maintain Azure resources, services, and environments

• Conduct performance monitoring, capacity planning, and operational health assessments

• Perform incident analysis and remediation using Azure-native monitoring and diagnostic tools

• Design and maintain Azure-native backup, recovery, and DR/BCP configurations

• Troubleshoot complex Azure service, identity (AD/Entra), networking, and security issues

• Implement and maintain governance models including RBAC, least privilege, Azure Policies, and conditional access

• Analyze cloud events using Azure Monitor, Sentinel, and Log Analytics

• Produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and standard operating procedures

• Support development teams with cloud architecture guidance and best practices

• Assist with escalated Azure and identity-related issues

• Define baseline performance standards for cloud workloads

• Train and mentor department staff on Azure best practices, findings, new capabilities, and operational insights

• Create and deliver internal sessions, workshops, or walkthroughs to strengthen cloud knowledge across the organization.

This is a Contract position based out of Livonia, MI.

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
