Job Summary
The Senior Configuration Management Analyst is responsible for managing and optimizing the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to ensure data accuracy and support IT Service Management (ITSM) processes. This role focuses on implementing and enhancing Discovery and Service Mapping capabilities, maintaining data integrity through audits and validation, and delivering dashboards and reporting to monitor CMDB health.
Job Description
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for the CMDB, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and data integrity
- Drive implementation and optimization of Discovery, Service Mapping, and automation tools
- Conduct CMDB audits, data certification, and validation reviews to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Design and develop dashboards and reports to track KPIs and support data-driven decision-making
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities within the configuration management lifecycle
- Collaborate with DevOps, Configuration Item (CI) owners, Solution Architects, Cybersecurity teams, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate CMDB population and alignment with best practices
- Manage and prioritize CMDB backlog, including configuration and development tasks
- Provide technical guidance, support, and mentorship to junior analysts
- Apply industry principles, concepts, and best practices to solve complex technical and process challenges
- Exercise independent judgment within established procedures to determine appropriate actions
- Support ongoing ITSM initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
Job Skills Required
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in Configuration Management or related disciplines
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience working with CMDB and ITSM processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify data quality issues and implement solutions
- Advanced SQL proficiency for data analysis and reporting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Experience leveraging AI tools to improve workflows and operational efficiency
- Deep understanding of ITSM processes and CMDB best practices
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to lead initiatives and influence cross-functional teams
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy and governance
- Continuous improvement mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Capable of working independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Pay Rate
- $78.50 - $84.60 p er hour (Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors)
Additional Requirements
- ITIL Foundation certification
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator or equivalent ITSM/ITOM certification
- Experience with CMDB data modeling, automation frameworks, and service mapping tools
