We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-Time School Social Worker to join our student support team for the 20252026 academic year. Serving students in grades 6 through 12 , the School Social Worker will play a vital role in promoting students academic, social-emotional, and behavioral success.

With a caseload of approximately 350 students , this position offers a meaningful opportunity to make a wide-reaching impact through individualized student support, group interventions, family engagement, and staff consultation. The ideal candidate is student-focused, culturally responsive, and experienced in navigating the complex challenges adolescents face inside and outside the classroom.

• Provide individual and group counseling services to students dealing with a wide range of social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges.

• Conduct comprehensive social work assessments to support special education evaluations and help determine eligibility for services under IDEA.

• Develop and implement behavioral intervention plans (BIPs) and provide support for students in crisis or at risk of school failure.

• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, school psychologists, and administrators to implement effective multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and promote a positive school climate.

• Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community agencies to address barriers to learning and ensure access to social-emotional supports.

• Assist with the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans , including participating in student support meetings.

• Support staff with trauma-informed practices , classroom interventions, and conflict resolution strategies.

• Maintain clear, confidential, and timely documentation in compliance with Michigan Department of Education (MDE) standards and district guidelines.

• Respond promptly to crisis situations , including suicide risk assessments, safety planning, and coordination of appropriate referrals.

• Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program

• Valid School Social Worker License (310 Letter) through the Michigan Department of Education (MDE)

• Proven experience working with adolescent populations , preferably in a school or clinical setting

• Strong understanding of child and adolescent development , trauma, and mental health challenges that impact learning

• Knowledge of MTSS , special education law (IDEA), and behavioral supports in a school setting

• Excellent communication, cultural competency, and interpersonal skills
