Position Title : Operations Manager – Harvest Floor
About the Role
The Harvest Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of all aspects of the Harvest floor, ensuring the production of high-quality products while maintaining safety and regulatory standards. The role involves directing production activities, managing a team, and collaborating with various departments to meet daily goals and maintain compliance.
Essential Job Functions:
- Oversee all Harvest floor operations, ensuring efficient production processes.
- Monitor production efficiency, review make-sheets, and communicate goals with Superintendents.
- Direct Superintendents in terms of production volume, quality, and cost management.
- Ensure product yield meets specifications while maintaining quality.
- Conduct daily safety walks and address non-compliance issues.
- Develop and train the Harvest floor management team, focusing on leadership and teamwork.
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance Department to uphold product quality and food safety standards.
- Maintain a positive relationship with government agencies and address any regulatory concerns.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as directed by the General Manager.
Working Conditions:
- Work in high temperatures (90+ degrees).
- Frequent exposure to knives, hot water, and production machinery.
- Physical demands include walking and stair climbing.
- Work environment includes slick floors and loud noise.
Experience Required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; college degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in the meat industry.
- Previous experience on a Harvest floor.
Skills/Abilities Required:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, problem-solving skills, and leadership qualities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others and maintain strong working relationships.
- Extensive knowledge of meat products, equipment, and specifications.
- Flexibility to work variable hours, including Saturdays.
- Bilingual skills are a plus, but not required.
