The Animal Care Team Shift Lead plays a vital role in creating a safe, structured, and enriching environment for every dog and cat in our care, ensuring their stay is not only secure and well-managed, but also engaging, comfortable, and enjoyable. This is a full-time role (30-40 hours per week) which includes weekends and holidays as needed.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the health, behavior, and safety of all animals in care
- Ensure proper group play management based on size, temperament, and energy level
- Lead and support fellow Animal Care Team Members
- Delegate tasks and ensure completion of daily care routines
- Oversee feeding, medication administration, and enrichment activities
- Maintain accurate reports and assist with sending fun photo updates to pet parents
- Identify and report any signs of illness, injury, or behavioral concerns
- Ensure proper handling techniques are followed at all times
Required Qualifications
- Previous professional experience in animal care, dog daycare, boarding, or veterinary setting
- Strong understanding of dog behavior and group play dynamics
- Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments
- Comfortable administering medications
- Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment
