Lab Service Representative
Pay: 18.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
Location: Detroit, MI 48202
Lab Service Representative Responsibilities:
- Support laboratory customers by phone and resolve issues related to test requests, specimen requirements, and result status
- Accession incoming specimens (receive, identify, document, and route for testing)
- Initiate and track prior authorizations and support billing/payment workflows in the lab system
- Track client encounters and follow up to ensure timely resolution
- Coordinate expedited handling of routine and special test requests
- Follow safety, infection control, and quality standards; assist with training as needed
Lab Service Representative Requirements
- High school diploma/GED required (Associate’s degree preferred)
- 2–3+ years of clinical laboratory experience with knowledge of specimen handling, preparation, and workflow
- Epic experience
- Experience with LIS systems (Atlas LIS a plus)
- Experience with billing and prior authorization processes
- Accessioning and/or specimen collection experience
