Technical Specialist
Large utility is looking for a Technical Specialist in Lansing, MI. This role requires a High School Diploma (Associates preferred) and strong administrative experience to manage gas utility permit lifecycles, bond recovery, and SAP-based database tracking while coordinating between construction schedules and municipal agencies. education: High School responsibilities:
- Supporting the Gas Engineering Asset Planning department by performing technical functions within the Permit Coordination team.
- Reviewing all preplanned gas utility work to identify and determine necessary permits.
- Managing and utilizing SAP tasks for permit tracking and workflow management.
- Processing check requests, bond requests, and invoices, including the manual calculation of permit fees.
- Issuing official construction notifications, including start and completion notices, to city, state, and township agencies.
- Maintaining comprehensive databases for permit tracking, inspection escrows, and outstanding bonds.
- Ensuring the timely request and recovery of refunds for bonds and inspection escrows.
- Coordinating with the Restoration and Scheduling departments to align permit timelines with construction and clean-up schedules.
- Tracking and quantifying annual work volume and total spend related to permits and bonds.
- Physically delivering and picking up permit packets at various municipal and agency buildings.
- Reading and interpreting construction prints and technical drawings.
- Experience utilizing SAP.
- Experience utilizing MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, MS SharePoint, and MS Visio.
- Experience utilizing Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience utilizing Microstation.
- Construction print reading and interpretation.
- High School Diploma Required.
- Associates Degree or higher education preferred.
- Experience level: Experienced
