POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for operating a point-of-sale register to sell merchandise, course greens fees, and food and beverages. Responsible for providing food and beverage service to all clubhouse and course guests. The Club House Worker provides excellent guest service in all sales transactions, while also greeting guests and answering calls. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Golf Course Manager and is subject to review through inspection, communication, and by the reaction and comments of those who use the facilities of the golf course.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)

  • Responsible for attentive and friendly customer service throughout the clubhouse, accurately ringing up charges at the register and properly checking in all golfers prior to play.
  • Enters sales transactions of food and beverage orders and merchandise into the point-of-sale system.
  • Promptly and effectively communicates food orders to the kitchen.
  • Responsible for providing food and beverage service to both clubhouse and course guests.
  • Responsible for providing food and beverage service for special events, league nights, and tournaments.
  • Responds to inquiries both in person and over the telephone.
  • Focuses attention on guests’ needs while remaining professional and courteous at all times while working under pressure.
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory and organization of storage and display areas while properly rotating merchandise as necessary.
  • Maintains inventory levels of consistently stocked items
  • Performs opening and closing functions of the clubhouse following guidelines and procedures established by the course.
  • Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the work environment.
  • Responsible for ensuring all daily assignments are completed in their respective areas to meet course standards by organizing work areas, straightening and arranging entry area, and stocking.
  • Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Reports any suspicious activity on the golf course to Management.

  • All other job-related duties as assigned.

CONTACTS:

Immediate peers, peers in other departments, immediate supervisor/manager, managers in other departments, executives, Board of Directors, customers, and outside vendor/service providers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical factors include constant standing, walking, reaching, hearing, smell, and near/midrange/far vision, depth perception, color/field of vision. Frequent lifting and moving of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to work outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions. Working conditions include constant exposure to noise. Potential hazards include working with client contact; frequent equipment use. Ability to stand, kneel, and bend over for 6-8 hours.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Prior retail experience preferred. Experience working at a golf course is preferred.

Certification/License:

Will be required to take and successfully complete TIPS certification. Must comply with the Sault Tribe’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy which may include random drug tests.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of recreational operations and maintenance work needed. Cash handling experience including opening and closing of retail outlets experience needed. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to deal effectively with the public. Must be able to prioritize work duties to accommodate the facility. Must be flexible and available to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly in person, in writing, by telephone, and by email. Must be able to promote good public relations in a cooperative, productive working environment. Must be able to respond to difficult and stressful situations in an efficient, effective, and positive manner. Native American preferred.
