Enterprise Application Analyst
About the Position
The Enterprise Applications [Analyst/Specialist] will play a key role in BS&A Software’s Enterprise Applications team, ensuring the smooth operation, optimization, and governance of collaboration and productivity platforms. This individual will serve as the primary owner for Jira and related Atlassian tools, while also supporting Slack, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and other enterprise applications. The ideal candidate is a generalist with strong technical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate business needs into effective solutions. They will collaborate closely with IT, compliance, and business stakeholders to maintain reliable platforms, support audits, and drive adoption of enterprise tools across BS&A.
Position Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field.
- Certifications such as Atlassian Certified Associate (ACA), Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP)
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered in substitution for the minimum qualifications.
- 3+ years administering or supporting enterprise collaboration tools (e.g., Jira/Atlassian Suite, Slack, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Salesforce, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with Jira administration (workflows, custom fields, permissions, dashboards, integrations).
- Scripting/automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or Jira Automation) a plus.
- Experience with identity and access management (Azure AD, SSO, provisioning) a plus.

- Serve as the primary administrator for Jira, including configuration, customization, and user support.
- Support and maintain additional collaboration platforms (Slack, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Confluence, and others).
- Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements and implement improvements to workflows, dashboards, and integrations.
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and usage; troubleshoot and resolve issues proactively.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including system configuration, standard operating procedures, and user guides.
- Configure and maintain Jira Software and Jira Service Management (JSM) projects, including issue types, workflows, screens, fields, and permissions.
- Administer Jira Service Management (ITSM), including request types, service catalogs, SLAs, automation rules, and queues to support IT operations and service delivery.
- Develop dashboards, filters, and reports to provide actionable insights for IT, security, development, and business teams.
- Manage integrations between Jira and other enterprise platforms (e.g., Slack, Teams, Confluence, GitHub, Azure AD, monitoring tools).
- Ensure adherence to ITSM best practices (incident, change, problem management) by configuring Jira Service Management to align with organizational governance frameworks.
- Support Agile delivery teams by configuring boards (Scrum/Kanban), workflows, and backlog structures that enable effective sprint planning, tracking, and reporting.
- Implement and maintain automation within Jira (e.g., Jira Automation, ScriptRunner, or similar apps) to streamline processes and reduce manual work.
- Maintain Atlassian Marketplace apps (e.g., time tracking, advanced roadmaps, reporting tools), ensuring they are patched, supported, and fit business needs.
- Participate in enterprise projects, ensuring that collaboration tools support business needs and governance requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of
- Jira Software and Jira Service Management administration, including workflows, fields, permissions, automation, SLAs, and service catalogs.
- Collaboration platforms such as Confluence, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint, and how they integrate with enterprise systems.
- ITIL framework and IT service management (ITSM) concepts, especially incident, problem, change, and request management.
- Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and their implementation within Jira Software.
- System integration concepts (REST APIs, webhooks, directory services) and Atlassian Marketplace apps.
- Audit and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, PCI-DSS, NIST) and how they apply to enterprise application governance.
- Identity and access management concepts (SSO, MFA, role-based access control) as applied to SaaS tools.
- Documentation standards for system configuration, user guides, and audit evidence.
- Core networking, authentication, and security principles relevant to SaaS applications.
Skill in
- Configuring, customizing, and maintaining Jira projects, boards, workflows, and dashboards for both ITSM and software development use cases.
- Building and managing Jira Service Management queues, SLAs, request types, and automation rules to support IT operations.
- Developing reports and dashboards in Jira and Confluence to deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Integrating Jira and collaboration tools with external systems (e.g., Slack notifications, Microsoft Teams connectors, GitHub/Bitbucket integrations).
- Supporting audits by providing configuration evidence, access reviews, and control documentation.
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles for administrators and end-users.
- Troubleshooting system and user issues across Jira, Confluence, and collaboration platforms.
- Training end-users and teams on effective use of Jira, Confluence, and collaboration platforms.
- Managing vendor relationships, licensing, and third-party app support.
- Communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to
- Work independently to manage multiple platforms and priorities in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
- Translate business requirements into Jira/Confluence configurations that align with ITSM and Agile best practices.
- Balance user needs with governance, compliance, and security requirements.

- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement across enterprise applications.
- Stay current on Atlassian platform changes, industry best practices, and emerging tools in the collaboration/ITSM space.
- Adapt quickly to new platforms or integrations as the enterprise application portfolio expands.
- Handle sensitive information with discretion and ensure adherence to security and compliance standards.
Working Conditions
- Primarily Indoors office environment
- Rarely outdoors, in temperatures above 90 degrees or below 40 degrees
- Standard working hours with potential for extended hours during project peaks or audit periods.
