Academy of the Sacred Heart is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Grade 5 & 6 Teacher to join our Middle School faculty, which serves both girls and boys. This position includes teaching core subjects such as language arts, science, and humanities, within our single-gender classroom model, while collaborating as part of one cohesive Middle School team. The role emphasizes the integration of technology and innovative instructional practices. The ideal candidate is passionate about education, committed to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment, and skilled in delivering a comprehensive, developmentally responsive curriculum that meets the diverse needs of all students. Essential functions include but are not limited to:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lesson plans in accordance with the school’s curriculum and standards.
• Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation, creativity, and academic excellence.
• Utilize various teaching methods and instructional materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
• Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback and support.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive classroom culture that promotes respect, empathy, and a growth mindset.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, achievements, and any concerns.
• Collaborate with colleagues and school administration to enhance the overall educational experience for students.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and advancements.
• Contribute to extracurricular activities, school events, and initiatives that support the school’s mission and community.
• Fulfill advisory duties.
• Attend the beginning of the year overnight retreat and Spring Class Trip.
• The successful candidate should demonstrate passion and commitment to an interdisciplinary approach as well as source appropriate learning material and present varying viewpoints that allow students to feel safe and successful. A clear commitment to the educational philosophy of Sacred Heart Schools is essential.

Basic requirements include but are not limited to:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Elementary Education (K-5 All Subjects/K-8 Self-Contained/Upper Elementary 3-6 (ZP) )
• A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience at the elementary or middle school level is preferred, but not required.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• A desire to seek out professional development activities related to the latest instructional strategies, student growth and best pedagogical practices.
• Ability to work well with students and colleagues; willingness to be an active, enthusiastic member of the Sacred Heart community
• Willingness to adapt to an existing curriculum as well as contribute ideas to enhance the respective academic programs
• Strong understanding of child development and educational psychology.
• Proficiency in integrating technology into the classroom.
