Operations Manager

Job Portal
Ann Arbor, MI

About You

Two things define whether someone succeeds in this seat- you can keep a dozen balls in the air without dropping one, and you can communicate clearly with anyone- crews, clients, leadership, and everyone in between. If this energizes you, keep reading.

  • You are the calm in the chaos and the follow-through behind the vision
  • You may not be the loudest voice in the room, but you often are the most reliable one
  • Your leadership style is “firm, fair and kind” and people trust you for it
  • You're motivated by the idea of being the primary person responsible for managing day-to-day operations within a business
  • You love to learn new things, bloom where you’re planted, and seek out opportunities to "leave it better than you found it”
  • You own accountability like a badge of honor- no excuses. If it's yours, you see it through.
  • You leave every process better than you found it and you're not threatened by change- you lead it.
  • You build cohesion without being asked. You're an oar, not an anchor.
  • Your energy is steady and your attitude is contagious- especially on the hard days.
  • Doing the right thing is your cornerstone- in payroll, with people, and with hard conversations
  • You are comfortable with all things scheduling- from putting appointments on the calendar to organizing who is doing what
  • You thrive in environments with a lot of moving parts because you create the systems that keep them moving.
  • You're the go-to organizer, the office tech expert, and the person who figures out what's broken and fixes it before it becomes someone else's problem

What We Offer:

  • Competitive Salary of $80-90K annually based on experience
  • Paid time off
  • Retirement plan with company match
  • Weekly paycheck via Direct Deposit
  • Voluntary benefits available through Aflac
  • A growing company with real career advancement opportunity
  • A seat at the leadership table

About Us

Since 1992, Tribble Painting has been the Ann Arbor area's trusted name in residential and commercial painting — not because we're the cheapest, but because we show up right, communicate clearly, and deliver on our promises. We are a company in active growth mode with a clear vision: build repeatable systems, scale with the right people, and create careers — not just jobs.

Our team is built on five core values that aren't hanging on the wall for decoration. They drive every hire, every decision, and every interaction. We are looking for an Operations Manager who doesn't just manage tasks — they own outcomes, build culture, and help carry this company to the next level.

About The Role

You'll be the operational backbone of a growing painting company. Less theory, more execution. This role lives and dies on staying organized when everything is moving at once, and communicating so clearly that nothing falls through the cracks. If you can't do both on a tough Tuesday, this isn't the right fit.

  • Schedule jobs, manage crew assignments, and keep communication tight between clients and the field — you are the hub that every spoke connects to
  • Own bookkeeping day-to-day — billing, invoicing, AR/AP — with accuracy and consistency
  • Lead hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management for office and field staff
  • Administer benefits and payroll
  • Directly supervise front desk staff
  • Identify what's inefficient and build systems that fix it — you don't just manage the moving parts, you organize them
  • Communicate proactively with clients, crews, and leadership so no one is ever left guessing
  • Help shape a workplace culture people are proud to be part of
  • This role reports into leadership and has a real voice in where the company goes.

Operations Manager Skills and Experience.

We’re flexible on the number of years of previous experience for this role. We highly favor talent and interest. That said, here’s what sets candidates apart for us:

  • Management and leadership experience highly preferred
  • Bookkeeping experience — you don't need to be a CPA, but accuracy is non-negotiable
  • Experience scheduling employees and customer appointments in a fast-moving environment
  • Administrative support experience with strong organizational instincts
  • Experience with onboarding, training, and performance management processes
  • Benefits administration experience is a plus
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new technology quickly — you're excited by this, not intimidated
  • QuickBooks experience is required
  • Strong proficiency in Excel with comfort building and managing spreadsheets
  • Experience with JobNimbus or similar field service platforms — a major plus
  • Genuine enthusiasm for building culture and making the workplace better for everyone in it
