Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Slitter Helper to join our team. You will be responsible for assisting the Machine Operator in setting up the machine and running the coil through to cut it to size. This includes using hand tools and metal clips to secure the cut steel. You will work closely with both the Slitter Operator and the Shipping Department and perform visual inspections on the steel coil to ensure it is not damaged. Detailed work instructions will guide your tasks.
Responsibilities

- Perform visual inspections on steel coils to ensure there is no damage.
- Collaborate closely with the Slitter Operator and Shipping Department.
- Follow detailed work instructions for each task.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and bend.
- Ability to stand and walk on feet all day.
- Safety cautious.

Work Environment
You will be working in a loud manufacturing environment where it can get very warm during the summer. Safety gear, including hardhats and safety goggles, is required due to the presence of moving steel and operating cranes. The facility is spacious, providing ample room to maneuver. This is a second shift position from 3 PM to 1 AM, with potential for overtime and occasional Saturday work. Initial training may occur during the first shift.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Macomb, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr.
