Salary Range: $63,000 - $96,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Newaygo that are seeking skilled Cost Accountants. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain standard costs for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
• Perform detailed variance analysis for production costs, including material, labor, and overhead.
• Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare reports comparing actual to standard costs.
• Manage inventory valuation, including obsolescence and slow-moving inventory provisions.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts related to production expenditures.
• Identify and recommend cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements within manufacturing operations.
• Support month-end close activities related to cost of goods sold and inventory accounts.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• CMA or CPA certification preferred.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
• Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification/experience
• Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and analysis
• Project management experience related to cost-saving initiatives
