Refrigeration Technician

MalaceHR is seeking a skilled Commercial Refrigeration Technician to support service and maintenance of light commercial refrigeration equipment across retail environments. This role focuses on troubleshooting, repair, installation, and preventive maintenance of non-supermarket refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate is technically strong, customer-focused, and comfortable working independently in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain light commercial refrigeration equipment, including:

  • Walk-in coolers

  • Walk-in freezers

  • Ice machines

  • Self-contained refrigeration units

  • Other light commercial refrigeration systems

• Perform preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and equipment reliability

• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration system issues

• Complete service calls efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship

• Accurately document work performed, parts used, and recommended follow-up actions

• Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and internal teams

• Follow all safety standards, EPA regulations, and company policies

Scope of Work

• Service is focused on light commercial and retail environments

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a Commercial Refrigeration Technician (light commercial preferred)

• Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, components, and controls

• EPA Universal Certification required

• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

• Ability to work independently and manage service calls effectively

• Strong communication and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience servicing ice machines and self-contained units

• Basic electrical troubleshooting experience

• Familiarity with mobile work order systems or CMMS platforms

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

• Ability to work in confined spaces, on ladders, and in varying temperature conditions

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods
