Code Architect (Automation & Infrastructure)

Masco Corporation
Livonia, MI
As Code Architect, you will build and implement premier automated cloud solutions using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership to accelerate cloud adoption, improve operational efficiency, and ensure compliance across multi-cloud environments. You will lead transformative initiatives, mentor peers, and influence enterprise architecture standards while driving measurable business outcomes such as faster delivery, improved resiliency, and cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and Implement IaC Solutions: Build and deploy automated cloud infrastructure using Terraform, Bicep/ARM, and Ansible across Azure and multi-cloud environments.
  • Standardize Infrastructure: Develop reusable frameworks and modules for networking, compute, storage, identity, and observability to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Establish DevOps & GitOps Practices: Define and implement DevOps standards centered on Terraform and GitHub Actions, enabling automated provisioning, controlled updates, and configuration drift detection.
  • Automate Lifecycle Operations: Build pipelines for provisioning, scaling, backup orchestration, and enforce policy-as-code for governance and compliance.
  • Improve Resilience & Observability: Codify telemetry (metrics, logs, traces), alerting, SLOs/error budgets, and automated runbooks for rapid remediation and self-service recovery.
  • Optimize Cloud Resources: Implement autoscaling strategies, reservations/savings plans, HA/DR automation, and FinOps practices to improve cost efficiency and performance.
  • Champion Security & Compliance: Embed security controls and compliance checks into IaC workflows, ensuring audit readiness and alignment to regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate & Influence: Partner with multi-functional teams to productize infrastructure (landing zones, golden images) and accelerate application delivery.
  • Mentor & Lead: Coach team members on IaC patterns, automation guidelines, and cloud architecture principles.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering and automation, including Azure (or AWS/GCP) and IaC tools.
  • Expertise in CI/CD platforms (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, cloud security, and resilient architecture development.
  • Proven ability to influence collaborators and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications (Azure Architect, Terraform Associate, or equivalent).
  • Exposure to FinOps practices and cloud sustainability strategies.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/AKS) and artifact management.
  • Hands-on experience with secrets management (Azure Key Vault, HashiCorp Vault) and policy-as-code (OPA, Azure Policy).
  • Familiarity with on-prem virtualization (VMware vSphere/ESXi) and storage platforms.
