Specialist - records
This position will provide student-focused service and guidance regarding records and registration. We will work with the chosen candidate to fit duties to interests, skills, and background. We are open to considering a hybrid work schedule.
We are looking for a candidate with strong analytical and technological skills who can support the Registrar’s Office with data validation and quality control as we move our student data from our Banner (our current student information system) to Workday Student. The candidate may also support the office in other ways as well, including assisting with maintaining processes within Banner, which could include areas such as registration, annual class schedule building, catalog maintenance, degree auditing, graduation, transfer equivalencies, reporting, and compliance. If the candidate has direct experience using Workday Student, the position may be focused on configuration and testing of Workday Student. It is important that the selected candidate is able to train under minimal supervision.
The 12-month adjunct position will begin between May and June 2025, and it is the intention of the department to continue this appointment on a yearly basis through 2027.
Salary & Benefits: $58,000-$68,000, commensurate with experience.

Primary Duties:
Assist with data validation and quality control for data conversion from Banner to Workday Student
Co-lead upkeep and maintenance for systems related to records and registration including Banner Admin, Banner SSB , Coursedog , and others as assigned.
Assist efforts for programming, reporting, upgrades, and changes for the following systems related to records and registration : Argos, OnBase, and others as assigned.
Assist in updating of all communications material, website(s), training materials and videos , and correspondence that are sent to students and families.
Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership .
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor’s d egree .
M inimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience in higher education or related field .
Strong technology skills with coding experience and advanced experience with Microsoft Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills, attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to think strategically and initiate solutions.
Experience manag ing specific programs , projects, or functions within a team .
Ability to maintain sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment.
C ooperative team player and committed to GVSU’s vision of inclusion and equity.
A high degree of confidentiality, discretion, judgment, collaboration, and the ability to build strong relationships .
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekend hours as needed.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and experience in using a large database system, administrative software, imaging, and workflow applications, especially as it relates to student records and student communication. Experience with tools like SAS, PowerBI , or PowerQuery would also be helpful.
Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Some travel may be required.
