As a Bakery Shift Leader , you’ll guide a talented team to deliver exceptional service and high-quality baked goods that delight our customers. You’ll lead by example, fostering teamwork, growth, and a culture of care that reflects Meijer’s commitment to family, community, and respect.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Engage team members to provide outstanding service and a friendly, welcoming experience for every customer.
• Communicate daily priorities, assign work, and ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed service and sales goals while upholding Meijer standards.
• Train and develop new hires and cross-train high-potential talent to promote growth and productivity.
• Foster open communication between team members and leadership to ensure smooth operations.
• Partner with leadership on scheduling, engagement, and operational planning to improve sales and profitability.
• Monitor freshness and product rotation to ensure the highest quality baked goods.
• Lead compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, creating a clean, safe environment.
• Engage with the community by supporting local events and building customer connections.
• Oversee ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product displays.
• Operate registers, handle cash transactions, and operate powered equipment when needed.
• May assist in leadership coverage for other departments as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

What You Bring With You:

• Retail, bakery, or food service experience preferred.
• Passion for customer service and team leadership.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organization skills.
• Creative thinking and attention to detail.
• Ability to motivate, influence, and build strong relationships with team members and customers.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, and twist while handling product.
