The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Manistee seeking Tool Makers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Operate and maintain a variety of manual and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.
• Interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machining operations.
• Perform precise measurements using various inspection tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure quality.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose tooling problems, implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop new tools and optimize existing ones for manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Tool Maker, specializing in the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
• Proficiency in operating a variety of manual and CNC machine shop equipment (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications, including GD&T.
• Expertise in precision measurement using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection tools to ensure tight tolerances.
• Solid understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and various tooling materials.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)
• Experience operating and/or programming CNC machinery (mills, lathes, EDM)
• TIG/MIG welding experience for tool repair and modification
• Familiarity with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparator)
• Knowledge of various material properties and heat treatment processes
