Maintenance Planner / Supervisor – Mining Operations
Join our dynamic team as a Maintenance Planner / Supervisor in a heavy industrial mining environment. This critical leadership role combines strategic maintenance planning and scheduling with hands-on supervisory responsibilities, ensuring safe and reliable equipment operations while driving continuous improvement in our mining operations. You'll lead maintenance teams, coordinate preventive maintenance programs, and ensure full compliance with MSHA safety standards in both underground and surface mining environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance work orders with detailed job plans to minimize equipment downtime
- Provide direct leadership and supervision to maintenance personnel across multiple shifts
- Ensure strict compliance with MSHA safety regulations, mine safety protocols, and company safety standards
- Develop and manage comprehensive preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) programs
- Coordinate contractor activities, scheduled shutdowns, and major equipment overhauls
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history, and asset documentation in CMMS systems
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control system issues on mining equipment
- Support capital improvement projects and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability
- Conduct regular equipment inspections in underground mine and surface mining operations
- Collaborate with operations teams, maintenance crews, storeroom personnel, and contractors to optimize equipment performance
- Monitor maintenance KPIs and implement strategies to improve equipment uptime and reliability
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of maintenance leadership, maintenance planning, or maintenance supervision experience
- Proven background in heavy industrial maintenance within mining, aggregates, cement, steel, or similar manufacturing environments
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and electrical troubleshooting capabilities
- Hands-on experience with CMMS systems (SAP experience strongly preferred)
- Comprehensive knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel equipment, welding, rigging, and electrical systems
- Familiarity with PLC programming and Allen-Bradley control systems preferred
- Ability to work comfortably in underground mining conditions and adapt to variable shift schedules
- Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills
- Commitment to workplace safety and MSHA compliance
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as needed
Compensation & Benefits
Annual Salary Range: $120,000 - $130,000 USD
