PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Dayton, Ohio (45409) – Ohio nursing jobs
• Facility: 35-bed Medical Oncology Unit (Mixed Acuity: Med Surg & Advanced Care)
• Employment Type: Travel RN / Locum Tenens
• Contract Duration: Up to 20 weeks (13-week travel nurse contracts accepted)
• Shift: Night Shift, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36 (option for 48 hours available)
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: February 23, 2026
• Patient Ratios: Target 1:4, may be up to 1:5-6 depending on acuity
• Floating: Required to all Stepdown/Advanced Care units (main, south, north campuses)
• Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend/holiday required
• Scrubs: Navy Blue
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1950-$2000

PCU RN Qualifications

• Minimum 1.5 years of recent PCU or Stepdown RN experience (ICU experience not accepted)
• Oncology nursing experience required; Sickle cell and chemo certification strongly preferred
• Experience with 1:5 patient ratios in PCU or Stepdown units must be shown in application
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (any state); Compact nursing licenses accepted
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• ONS Chemotherapy Certification preferred (required for chemotherapy administration)
• EPIC charting experience required
• Must pass online EKG/telemetry competency assessment prior to start
• Ability to float to various units and campuses as needed
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Must be fitted for N95 mask prior to working on HRRU unit (unless PAPR is provided/needed)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to oncology and hematology patients in a mixed acuity hospital setting
• Administer blood products, chemotherapy (if certified), and manage complex patient needs including drips, PCAs, and wound care
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms; respond to rapid response and code situations
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services
• Float to Stepdown/Advanced Care units and support nursing teams across multiple hospital campuses
• Maintain accurate patient documentation using EPIC electronic medical records
• Work every other weekend and holiday as scheduled
• Complete required lab work and EKG/dysrhythmia exam within 72 hours of contract signing
