Engineering associated with the manufacturing process. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Technical Ownership
  • Serve as the project lead for the design and development of new equipment and process implementation.
  • Focus on machining operations , including grinding, milling/drilling, EDM processes.
  • Ensure processes are robust, safe, and capable of meeting quality and delivery requirements.
Process Improvement
  • Implement engineering processes and principles to improve production efficiency, quality, and repeatability.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste, variability, and defects.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives for process-related issues. Perform read across for like processes to ensure full closure of corrective actions.
Team Coordination
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and process Engineering.
  • Act as a liaison between the production floor and management, ensuring alignment on priorities and constraints.
Training and Mentorship
  • Train and mentor manufacturing staff on best practices, standardized work, and safety protocols.
  • Support the adoption of new technologies, equipment, and methods on the shop floor.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Data Analysis
  • Analyze production data (throughput, scrap, rework, OEE, etc.) to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Make data-driven recommendations to adjust processes, resources, or tooling to meet production and quality targets.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for new equipment and processes

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. ( or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of manufacturing engineering experience )
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in product manufacturing or a closely related field.
    • Prior experience directly supervising or leading a team of technicians, or production staff is strongly preferred.
    • Proven track record of leading engineering projects in a production environment.

Desired Characteristics
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, or similar).
    • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling design, and quality control techniques.
    • Strong understanding of CNC machine Macro programming.
    • Familiarity with GD&T, PFMEAs, control plans, and production documentation.
    • In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
    • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance.
    • Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks.
    • Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher).
    • Quality system certifications such as ISO 9001 or AS9100 exposure/experience.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence across functions.
    • Creativity and a proactive mindset toward identifying and implementing improvements.
  • Leadership:
    • Proven experience leading teams in a manufacturing environment (assigning work, setting priorities, and managing performance).
    • Ability to influence and engage operators, engineers, and leaders at all levels.
    • Skilled in conflict resolution, change management, and coaching, especially during process changes or new technology introduction.
