Emerald Steel Processing is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician / Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to support manufacturing operations at our Madison Heights, Michigan facility. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, maintaining, and improving manufacturing equipment, production machinery, and facility systems to ensure maximum uptime, safety, and operational efficiency.

We are looking for candidates with experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, electrical troubleshooting, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, overhead cranes, forklifts, motors, bearings, gearboxes, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and manufacturing equipment repair.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), predictive maintenance, and corrective maintenance on production equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems.
• Diagnose equipment failures and implement effective repair solutions to minimize production downtime.
• Inspect, test, adjust, and replace motors, bearings, gearboxes, belts, chains, pulleys, sensors, valves, cylinders, and other machine components.
• Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot conveyors, forklifts, overhead cranes, material handling systems, and production machinery.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, hydraulic diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Perform equipment installations, upgrades, modifications, and machine rebuilds as required.
• Assist with welding, fabrication, and mechanical assembly projects when needed.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
• Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and provide emergency repairs during production.
• Complete maintenance work orders and accurately document all repairs and PM activities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, efficiency, and root-cause problem solving.
• Adhere to OSHA standards, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and all company safety policies.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• 2+ years of industrial maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, maintenance mechanic, or maintenance technician experience preferred.

• Experience working in a steel processing, metal manufacturing, automotive, fabrication, stamping, machining, production, or industrial environment is highly preferred.

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

• Working knowledge of:- Industrial electrical systems

  • Motors and motor controls
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar preferred)
  • Conveyor systems
  • Overhead cranes
  • Forklifts
  • Mechanical power transmission systems

• Experience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systems is a plus.

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, bend, stand, and work in an industrial manufacturing setting.

• Forklift operating experience required.
