Buyer - Vehicle Compute

Description

As a Buyer in Vehicle Compute you will be responsible for the purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services. Responsible for actively participating in the development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and collaborate with suppliers or internal partners. The work is of a sophisticated nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and judgment. Specific areas of focus will be on the next generation electrical architecture, including autonomous level driving technologies. This role will also support GM's migration to In-House-Design in the Electronics space.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for the purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services.

Responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and interface with suppliers or internal stakeholders.

Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and a high level of independent judgment.

Partner with Program Managers to represent purchasing and communicate program requirements/vehicle line overview.

Nurture relationship with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

2+ years relevant post-graduate work experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, logistics, or product development

High level of capability to work independently

Highly proficient oral and written communication skills

High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex

Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and ability to collaborate cross-functionally

Negotiation skills

Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time

Capable of interpreting contracts

Demonstrated global business skills

Ability to travel 5—10% travel Domestically + Internationally

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

Cost analysis, or manufacturing experience

Automotive industry experience

Knowledge of materials management

Capable of interpreting market data

Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents

Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
