Latham Law Group is seeking an experienced Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal / Legal Assistant to manage a substantial caseload of 100+ active pre-suit and litigation files. This is a full-time, on-site position in Birmingham, Michigan.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and experienced in handling personal injury matters from intake through settlement or trial. This role requires the ability to independently manage deadlines, maintain consistent client communication, and support attorneys in all phases of case development and litigation.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and maintain a caseload of 100+ active personal injury files, including automobile negligence and premises liability claims.
- Coordinate all aspects of pre-suit case management, including:
- Collecting medical records and bills
- Obtaining police reports and insurance information
- Communicating with clients regarding treatment and case status
- Preparing and submitting demand packages
- Negotiating liens and supporting settlement efforts
- Assist attorneys throughout the litigation process, including:
- Drafting pleadings, discovery requests, responses, and motions
- Preparing case summaries and litigation reports
- Coordinating depositions, mediations, hearings, and case evaluations
- Managing court filings and litigation deadlines
- Assisting with trial preparation and exhibit organization
- Maintain regular communication with clients, insurance adjusters, medical providers, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
- Ensure all case files are accurately documented and updated within the firm's case management system.
- Monitor statute of limitations deadlines and other critical case milestones.
- Support attorneys in developing case strategy and moving files efficiently toward resolution.
- Minimum 3+ years of personal injury pre-suit and/or litigation experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing a high-volume caseload of 100+ files.
- Strong understanding of Michigan personal injury law, including automobile negligence and premises liability claims.
- Experience drafting legal pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and settlement demands.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to client service.
- Paralegal certificate, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field preferred. xrczosw
