The Aladdin Sane is looking for a passionate bartender. The Aladdin Sane, the bespoke cocktail lounge underneath the historic Book Tower in Downtown Detroit. With a wide-ranging menu of experimental drinks, perfected standards, and late-night digestifs. Our bar program draws inspiration from the tenets of Japanese bartending: bring together the best spirits from around the world, express their essence, and create balance.

Bartender Job Responsibilities:

• Commitment to high standards with impeccable attention to detail
• Strong, upbeat and positive personality
• Own and manage rotation of clean and polished glassware
• Properly handle cash and closing guest tabs
• Keep a clean and properly rotated bar, using older product before moving into fresh prep. Quality check all day old stock before using.
• Work clean, as all service areas are within full view of guests.
• During down time, checking off cleaning duties on weekly cleaning schedule
• At end of night, performing closing duties to completion
• Passion for food, beverage and hospitality
• Ability to multi-task in a high volume, fast paced environment
• Team oriented mentality
• Dependability

Required Experience:

• Knowledge of Japanese Whiskey and Sake preferred
• Minimum 3-4 years of bartending experience in an upscale setting
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be a team player with a strong work ethic
• Ability to lift, move, carry 30 – 40 lb boxes, crates

Working Conditions/Environment

• The person having this position may have to stand and/or walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for eight to 10 (8 to 10) hours per day.
• Agility in executing fast-paced movements to navigate different areas of the property efficiently.
• The person having this responsibility may have to move, pull, carry, or lift objects weighing at least 50 pounds.
