FLSA Status: Exempt

START DATE: August 1, 2025

SCHEDULE: Part-Time - An average of 20-30 hours per week

SALARY: $31,392 - $35,517 - commensurate with experience and education

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Athletics, the Community Recreation Supervisor will plan, organize, coordinate, and oversee a variety of recreational programs, sports leagues, community events, and facility rentals. This role requires exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills and offers the opportunity to positively impact the lives of children, families, and residents throughout our community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential functions are the core responsibilities required to perform this role. These duties ensure the effective operation, maintenance, and safety of district facilities, supporting the district's mission and goals. The Community Recreation Supervisor is also responsible for other duties as assigned to meet the evolving needs of the district.

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and supervise a variety of recreational, athletic, enrichment, and special event programming.
  • Maintain a strong relationship with district staff, coaches, and community organizations to ensure program alignment, safety, and participant satisfaction.
  • Develop youth sports handbooks and coaches' guides with a focus on vertical alignment to high school athletic standards.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate part-time staff, volunteer coaches, instructors, and program support staff.
  • Coordinate league registration, player evaluations, schedules, facility reservations, and program materials.
  • Integrate opportunities for youth involvement with high school athletics, including youth nights, mentoring by varsity athletes, and varsity coach engagement.
  • Maintain active and positive relationships with league officials from area baseball, softball, and soccer organizations in which district youth participate, ensuring strong communication, collaboration, and ongoing support for program success.
  • Conduct ongoing program evaluation and recommend enhancements to meet the evolving needs of the community.
  • Administer budgets for recreation programs, manage program fees and expenditures, and seek sponsorships and donations.
  • Promote programs through social media, websites, flyers, newsletters, and other marketing platforms.
  • Ensure program compliance with safety protocols, district policies, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Respond promptly to community questions, complaints, and concerns in a positive and professional manner.
  • Attend programs, meetings, and community events, some of which occur during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and success of the recreation department.

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of recreation program management, facilities management, marketing, and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, recreation program rules, equipment usage, and facility maintenance.
  • Knowledge of applicable local ordinances, State and Federal laws, and regulations pertaining to recreation and facility operations.
  • Skill in using office equipment, recreation management software, and standard business technology; ability to quickly master new technology platforms.
  • Strong skills in planning, organizing, scheduling, coordinating, and evaluating multiple programs and staff.
  • Ability to prepare clear and professional reports, records, correspondence, marketing materials, and presentations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with employees, community partners, vendors, local government officials, the media, and the public.
  • Ability to problem-solve, prioritize tasks, and work effectively under pressure with multiple competing deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by programming.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in recreation management, sports administration, education, public administration, or a related field is preferred. (Relevant experience may substitute.)
  • One or more years of professional experience in recreation programming, special event coordination, sports management, teaching, or related fields.
  • First Aid, CPR, AED, and Concussion training certification (or willingness to obtain).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds.
