Custodian - Millet Learning Center - 1st Shift
RESPONSIBLE TO: Facilities Program Director
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Assisting the facilities team in providing a clean, safe and presentable facility. Helping to preserve the organization's assets by following best practices in cleaning and housekeeping. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:- Open and/or close the building for its daily functions, this will include working with automated building security systems.
- Cleaning of assigned areas utilizing established schedules, areas may include but will not be limited to administrative offices, common working and eating spaces, restrooms, kitchenettes, cafeterias. etc.,
- Use prescribed methods to perform duties that may include but are not limited to; trash removal, sweeping and/or dust mopping floors, polishing hard surfaces, Cleaning windows and mirrors, dusting office furniture and equipment.
- Using equipment like auto scrubbers, carpet machines and pressure washers to perform duties.
- Arrange, set-up and/or tear-down equipment and staging for public events.
- Possess the ability to work from diagrams, written and or verbal instructions.
- Proficient working with computers and handheld devices.
- Comfortable and able to work in inclement weather conditions to perform various seasonal duties that may include but are not limited to salting and shoveling snow from vehicles, walks and entrances, picking up trash and debris from the grounds.
- Load and unload supplies for the department and occasional shipments for the building functions.
- Assist the facilities team in capturing items in need of repair and entering work orders into our CMMS.
- Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Mandatory, one-two years of custodial work.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of seventy-five pounds.
- Able to work in fast paced environment.
- Comfortable working in the presence of students with disabilities.
- Demonstrated experience in handling responsibility.
