SENIOR COORDINATOR, NORTHEASTERN STATES
The Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) is seeking a Senior Coordinator, Northeastern States to cooperatively manage state sportsmen’s caucus efforts organized under the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC) and the Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC) programs for five states (CT, MA, NJ, NY, and RI) within CSF’s Northeastern Region.
About CSF:
Founded in 1989, CSF is the informed authority across outdoor issues and serves as the primary conduit for influencing public policy. Working with the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus (CSC), the Governors Sportsmen's Caucus (GSC), and the National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses (NASC), CSF gives a voice to hunters, anglers, recreational shooters, and trappers on Capitol Hill and throughout state capitols advocating on vital outdoor issues that are the backbone of our nation's conservation legacy.
Position Description:
The Senior Coordinator, Northeastern States will serve as the lead contact for state sportsmen’s caucuses, governors’ offices, state agencies, industry partners and non-governmental organizations in five states (CT, MA, NJ, NY, and RI). The successful candidate will work a traditional work schedule Monday-Friday, though evening and weekend travel will be required at times. The successful candidate will reside in one of the states in the region and will work remotely to allow for rapid response to state capitals (specific location to be mutually agreed upon). CSF and the successful candidate will agree to the terms of the work location arrangement prior to starting employment. This is a full-time, salaried position with a generous benefits package and room for advancement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Analyze and track state legislation and regulations of interest to sportsmen and women.
· Serve as point of contact for inquiries from legislators, state agencies, governor offices, conservation organizations, and allied industry partners interested in strengthening or assisting state sportsmen’s caucuses in the region.
· Liaise, provide guidance, and serve as a clearinghouse for information of relevance to the state sportsmen’s caucuses in CT, MA, NJ, NY, and RI.
· Actively engage in the policy process, including working towards bill introduction, providing expert written and oral testimony, coalition building around a particular issue, and more.
· Organize individual state caucus events and assist with event planning for CSF events including the Annual NASC Sportsman-Legislator Summit.
· Represent CSF at state caucus functions, state and regional meetings, and events.
· Develop regular content for an electronic newsletter for state issues and state caucus activity.
· Facilitate interactions between partners, state agencies, state legislative sportsmen’s caucuses, and Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus members.
· Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
· Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree. Preference given to candidates with degrees in wildlife biology, fisheries biology, conservation biology or natural resource management; or candidates with degrees in public policy, political science, law, or related fields, with prior experience in natural resource issues.
· Demonstrated knowledge of and/or familiarity with the legislative process, state legislatures, Congress, and/or governmental agencies and sportsmen’s policy issues. Preference given to candidates with prior work experience in these areas, specifically understanding of the unique challenges the area of responsibility presents.
· Minimum 2-3 years of relevant work experience.
· Policy experience in at least one of the states in the region (CT, MA, NJ, NY, and RI) highly preferred.
· Supporter of hunting, angling, recreational shooting, trapping, and professional fish and wildlife management.
· Ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholder groups, elected officials, and their staff members.
· Ability to establish priorities, work independently, process objectives and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
· Demonstrated strengths in written communications, policy analysis, and public speaking.
· Team player.
· Willingness to travel (up to 25%).
· Willingness to work non-traditional hours, when needed, including evenings and weekends.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Compensation Details:
