We are working directly with a great team in New Troy, MI to assist them in finding the right candidate for their Mechanical Engineer opportunity.

This is a direct Hire opportunity with an annual salary in the $85,000-$100,000 range

Key Responsibilities

Process & Design Development

• Design and optimize manufacturing processes using CAD/CAM and CNC programming.
• Create 2D process drawings, work instructions, and tool lists.
• Develop CAD models, refine CNC machining programs (e.g., G-code), and select appropriate tools/materials.

Troubleshooting & Quality Support

• Oversee setup and troubleshoot CNC equipment as needed.
• Conduct performance analysis and quality checks to ensure compliance with specifications.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Controls and Automation Engineers to develop solutions to production challenges.
• Provide design support for machining, automation, and assembly processes.
• Assist other departments with engineering expertise when needed.

Workflow & Layout Optimization

• Improve workflow efficiency and manage machine shop workloads.
• Generate layouts for machine moves and conceptual mechanical designs for automation cells.

Equipment & Fixture Design

• Support development of robotic and manual assembly stations (e.g., nut runner, pin press, leak testing systems).
• Design machining fixtures (tombstones, trunnions, vertical CNC, lathe tooling).
• Develop robot-accessible part stands and validate assembly equipment sizing (press/clamp force, torque, lifting strength, payloads).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (preferred).
• 2+ years of engineering experience, preferably in CNC machining or automation.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks (3D modeling, 2D drawing generation, assembly modeling).
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills to develop automated solutions.
• Familiarity with mechanical assembly, hardware, and pneumatic systems.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

• Experience with hydraulic systems and fittings.
• Leak testing/decay system design.
• Advanced 3D printing applications.
• PLC programming knowledge.
• Knowledge of AC/DC systems (24–480V).
• Robot programming experience.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Frequent walking and standing on the production floor.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Comfortable spending up to 75% of time on the shop floor.
