Job Summary

We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Interventional Technologist. Under limited supervision, the Senior Special Procedure Tech provides direct care pre, intra, and post for patients undergoing Heart and/or Vascular procedures to assist physicians and delivers quality patient/family centered care. The incumbent may be required to perform IV starts, prep patients, monitor hemodynamics, operate equipment, document procedures, vascular access site management, and provide patient/family education.

Job Description

• Monitor patients undergoing routine invasive and interventional procedures to ensure patient safety and procedural efficiency.
• Provide intra-procedural technical support and deliver high-quality, patient- and family-centered care.
• Perform and document hemodynamic and physiological waveform monitoring and calculations as required.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, coworkers, patients, families, and ancillary departments while demonstrating organizational service standards.
• Perform quality assurance checks on technical equipment and complete departmental skills validations.
• Maintain radiation safety standards for patients and staff in compliance with Radiation Safety Department guidelines.
• Participate in on-call rotations according to departmental schedules.
• Provide training and mentorship to less experienced technologists as needed.

Specialty-Specific Responsibilities (as applicable by site)

• Interventional Radiology (IR):
• Serve as first assist to physicians using sterile technique.
• Participate in image post-processing, cross-modality imaging (CT and Ultrasound), and 3D imaging.
• Assist with vascular and cerebral procedures as required.

Cardiac Catheterization (Cath) Lab:

• Support procedures utilizing technologies such as IVUS, FFR, OCT, ICE, EKOS, and Impella.
• Assist with cardiac, peripheral, and carotid interventions.

Electrophysiology (EP) Lab:

• Utilize ICE technology and assist with cardiac device implants.
• Circulate during EP procedures and support 3D mapping, advanced electrophysiology procedures, and laser lead extractions.

Skills Required

• Must have 3 + years of Interventional experience
• Must demonstrate advanced expertise in interventional procedures and be capable of training and mentoring other staff in the clinical skills outlined within the department’s competency grid.
• If assigned to a multi-specialty department or site, the employee must maintain expert-level proficiency across all applicable specialty areas performed within that department.

Education/Training/Certifications

• Required: Associate degree in Interventional Radiology with completion of an accredited radiography program (JRCERT).
• OR associate’s degree or equivalent in Cardiovascular Technology, Basic Science, or related field.
• Acceptable related backgrounds may include Paramedic License, Exercise Physiology training, or equivalent education and training.

Certifications (Required Upon Hire):

• ARRT Certifications (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists):
  • Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV), or
  • Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI), or
  • Radiographer (R) – applicable for Interventional Radiology (IR), Cath Lab, and EP Lab.
• Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI):
  • Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) – for Cath Lab & EP Lab, or
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) – for Cath Lab & EP Lab.
• Life Support Certifications:
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).

Additional Requirements

• Shift: 7:30AM – 6 PM weekdays only. Some weeknight backup call; 10 hrs
• Weekend rotation: on call only, every 2-4 weekends
• Scrub Provided

Pay Rate/Salary

• $69-$81 per hour, based on experience, skills, and market factors
