SUMMARY:

The Instructor–Campus NCLEX Readiness Facilitator works with the institution’s nursing programs to promote a culture of continuous improvement through monitoring, assessment, and initiatives designed to

strategically utilize NCLEX-PN preparation resources across the curriculum and improve NCLEX performance. The position works closely with the Director of Nursing (DON) and the PN Program Manager and has

a critical role in providing additional academic support to promote NCLEX success.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Actively engage in retention activities including identifying at-risk students.

  • Works with PN/RN Program Manager to create, provide, and manage study plans for at-risk students based on course and proctored examinations.

  • Provide tutoring and/or workshops based on student academic need.

  • Document communication with both students and faculty regarding student progress as indicated.

  • Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods, such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.

  • Observe and evaluate students' work to determine progress and make suggestions for improvement.

  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students.

  • Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.

  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs, abilities, and interests

  • Prepare students for further education by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks.

  • Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help.

  • Review instructional content, methods, and student evaluations to assess strengths and weaknesses, and to develop recommendations for course revision, development, or elimination.

  • Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress.

  • Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons that promote learning, following approved curricula.

  • Provide information, guidance, and preparation for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX)

  • Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of states and schools.

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

  • Must have a good understanding and knowledge of the requirements of the Practical Nurse program as well as the structure and functionality of the program

  • Be able to work independently and organized in their work to ensure that tasks are completed in a timely manner

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services

  • Have excellent communication skills and be professional when dealing with all aspects of the program

  • Must be knowledgeable in MSOffice Suite and computers; ability to handle multiple administrative tasks

  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking, writing or reading so others will understand.

EDUCATION/ MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or ADN from an accredited college or university required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in providing direct patient care in medical-surgical unit, or equivalent experience and/or education, preferred

  • Valid unencumbered RN license Preferred

  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit for extended periods of time; and have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a phone, computer keyboard and other office equipment.

  • Able to actively demonstrate and participate in the skills laboratory and clinical activities without physical limitations.
